L.A. BACK IN THE DAY....
The following images come from a collection of materials I have collected over the years, most date back to the 1980s.....
The once "Mighty Met" KMET 94.7fm was a great rock and roll station before it became smooth jazz The Wave...

I guess to be authentic I should have posted this upside down...
LA actually had three good rock stations, KMET 94.7, KLOS 95.5 (still there) and K-WEST 106 (which is now RAP/R&B POWER fm) while I was growing up.
Out of the three K-WEST had the most mellow tunes...
Gorky's (Downtown LA and Hollywood locations) had good food for a good price.  Ah, I remember the stuffed cabbage well.
Homeless people were hired to work there  and gave them a way out of their situation and the owner a tax break.

Good concept--- too bad it is still not around.

Plus, the home micro brewed beer was excellent!!! And the entertainment/open mike nights were interesting.
A VERY COOL PLACE!!
The Crush Bar is still around, but in a different location...Some good times and great music-- disco, funk, 1970s....a great hang for older single folk.
I lied and said I was staying at my friend's house to see this one.  Katon and the boys from Hirax/LA Kaos drove and I went too.  It was a great time...a blast!!!
